The Cost of Discipleship and Revival

The Cost of Discipleship and Revival

There Is a Price to Pay

Salvation does not cost any person anything, because salvation is freely bestowed upon those who believe. Don't let anyone rob you of this blessed truth. Ephesians 2:8, 9 states, “For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Our Saviour shed His precious blood upon the cross over 2,000 years ago to redeem sinners. To be saved, one must receive this precious gift, the Lord Jesus Christ, for the remission of sin. When the transaction occurs God immediately gives eternal life to the receiver of His gift.

Friend, it is free. Because of it one can exuberantly say with Paul, Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift (2 Corinthians 9:15).

The Price Paid by Christ

A. His home

God's gift cost the Saviour everything. This included the relinquishing of His heavenly home for a period of 33 years. Philippians 2:5-8 beautifully pictures the sacrifice: Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Yes, He loved you and left the beauty of the "Holy City" to die an agonizing death upon Calvary. He said, I came down from heaven (John 6:38). Again, I am the living bread which came down from heaven (John 6:51). He loved you and gave himself for you (see Galatians 2:20).

B. His reputation

God's gift also cost the Lord Jesus Christ His reputation. Philippians 2:7: [He] made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. His enemies tried to drag His holy name into the depths of degradation. Listen to them: He casteth out devils through the prince of devils (Matthew 9:34). He hath an unclean spirit (Mark 3:30). He hath a devil and is mad (John 10:20). "He is an illegitimate child." They said even that? Absolutely. His sermon so convicted the sinners of His day that they, in retaliation, shouted, we be not born of fornication (John 8:41). Christ bore all of this abusive language because of His great love for the “lost” including you.

C. His happiness

God's gift also cost Christ great sorrow. He could say in Matthew 26:28, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death. He beheld the city, and wept over it (Luke 19:41). Again in Luke 22:44: And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. Medical men state that blood is held in one's body by capillaries. When they burst, blood seeps through the skin. Jesus prayed so agonizingly over the souls of men that His capillaries shattered, His blood seeped through His skin, and beads of blood and water ran from His brow to the ground. Oh, how Jesus loved the lost.

Hebrews 12:2 looks ahead to the joy anticipated because of the sorrow endured: Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him [seeing the redeemed in His presence] endured the cross.

D. His life

God's gift also cost Christ His life. Psalm 22 prophetically depicts the event. Listen to the Saviour as He hangs, fastened by spikes, to the cross: My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? Verse 6: But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. Verses 13-16: They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion. I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death. For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. Do you hear the agonizing groans of the Lord as he pays the price of salvation for you?

Isaiah, the prophet, also portrays the ignominious scene in chapter 53:1-5: Who hath believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Paul says, Christ died for our sins (1 Corinthians 15:3). John adds, He loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood (Revelation).

Multitudes more of the "saved by grace without cost" crowd never win lost souls to Christ. Million slip into hell forever and forever and forever while believers fill their daily schedules with temporal earthly pursuits. They fail to witness because their exalted image could become tarnished by the taunts of those Christ-haters who belittle them. They might be called fanatics, fools, idiots, imbeciles, or Jesus freaks. Are we better than Christ who was called demented and mad in John 10:20? Are we better than Paul who said in 1 Corinthians 4:10, We are fools for Christ? God forgive us for not paying the cost of discipleship.

Let's investigate the price some of God's people paid as they followed Jesus.

Stephen, the first deacon, paid all he had by giving his life. In Acts 7:51 we find him preaching a strong, bombastic message naming sin. This kind of preaching is never popular. And [they] ran upon him with one accord, and cast him out of the city, and stoned him (Acts 7:57, 58).

The New Testament writers, with the exception of John, laid down their lives for the Saviour. Matthew died from the wounds of a halberd. Mark was dragged through the streets by a team of wild horses until death ensued. Luke was hanged. John was thrown into boiling oil. Though he lived, he was disfigured for life. Peter and Jude were crucified, and James was smashed to death by a club. Paul, last but not least, suffered more than the others combined.

He could say in 1 Corinthians 4:10-13, We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised. Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted [beaten], and have no certain dwelling place; And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it: Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the off- of all things unto this day. In 1 Corinthians 15:31, he says, I die daily.

In 2 Corinthians 4:8-10 he continues, We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed: Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus.

Again, 2 Corinthians 11:23-28: In labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft. Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; In journeying often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, and fastings often, in cold and nakedness. Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.

Think of it. Five times they scourged Paul with the forerunner of the Roman cat-o-nine-tails. Three times they used clubs on his body and once they crushed his head with rocks. Thinking he was dead, they discarded his body at the garbage dump of Lystra (see Acts 14:19).

Salvation is free, but it is not cheap. Discipleship that brings crowns and rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ is costly. Those who do not sacrifice here will have nothing in that day. They shall stand in Christ's presence ashamed (see 1 John 2:28). They shall suffer loss of all rewards (see 1 Corinthians 3:15).

One who is a disciple, a follower of Christ throughout this earthly, pilgrimage, has no regrets as eternity approaches. Listen to Paul again in 2 Timothy 4:6-8. He is about to have his life ended by decapitation beheading. His head will soon roll from his body as the sword severs it. Is he remorseful, regretful, and sorry? Would he like to relive life without all of the sorrow experienced as Christ's follower? You be the judge. He says, For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course. I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. There are no regrets-he is going home to be with Jesus forever.

Christian, get a copy of Fox's Book of Martyrs. It will revolutionize your life as you see the price Christians have paid throughout history. They were grateful for free salvation and gave their all out of gratitude. Let me share two illustrations from this volume:

In the year 258 AD, three hundred Christians jumped into fires at Utica rather than renounce the Lord Jesus Christ.

In 304 AD, Timothy and Mara heard a knock at the door. A voice said, "Give us your Scripture portions that we may burn them."

They replied, "Never. We would rather have you burn us."

They took Timothy, removed his eyes, threw him in front of his wife, and said, "Now let him read his Bible."

Six weeks later, the agents returned saying, "Will you renounce Jesus today?"

"Never!"

They then took this godly couple, and hanged them in trees in view of their little children. All this because they loved Jesus.

Salvation is free, but it is not cheap. Some of you have been treating it cheaply. Why not dedicate your life anew today. Get rid of habits, coldness, lukewarmness, and the spirit of unconcern that has hindered your growth in the Lord.

Be Ready!

Be Ready!

“According to the Lord's own Word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the Archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words." Mark 15:33-34

We have experienced tremendous major catastrophic events in recent years and it causes even the most cynical doubters to wonder what is happening. Tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes, tidal waves, terrorist attacks -- you name it.

Whenever we experience a tragic occurrence the natural response is; denial, depression or some other type of negative reaction. But in today's Scripture, Paul is telling us that in these times of trial, we are to encourage one another with these words. What words? The assurance that we will rise to meet the Lord in the air, and be with Him forever! Praise the Lord!

In Matthew 24:6-8, Jesus told of many things that were signs which would be indicators of the end of the age. Here are just a few He mentions: "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom will rise against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All of these things are the beginning of birth pains."

Jesus says that not only nation rising against nation, but also kingdom against kingdom. That indicates the upheaval within the borders of nations. Just think of the many conflicts as ethnic groups revolt within a nation.

Killer earthquakes have increased so dramatically in the past twenty five years that it is hard to deny that a significant sign is revealed. Grant Jeffrey, in his book, Armageddon, lists the frequency of killer earthquakes by decade, since 1890, that register more than 6.5 on the Richter scale: 1890-1899 (1); 1900-1909 (1); 1910-1919 (3);1920-1929 (2); 1930-1939 (5); 1940-1949 (4); 1950-1959 (9); 1960-1969 (13); 1970-1979 (56); 1980-1989 (74); 1990-1995 (125). Notice this is only one half a decade. An update will show a continued increase.

As we observe the calamities (natural or manmade) which are occurring with alarming regularity, it should awaken us to the need for action. Jesus speaks of birth pains. I am sure these pains will increase more and more until the time of the end. We need to work as we have never worked before to share the message of salvation. We never have to work to attain our salvation or to maintain our salvation, but we do need to work to share the wonderful message of salvation.

As we anticipate the trumpet call of God, it is time for us to examine our lives. Do we still have a fervent love of God, or have we lost our first love? I think it is a time for us to make a new dedication to the Lord. May our prayer be, “Not my will Lord, but Thine be done!”

In light of what is happening around us, we need to remember a vital truth. We will give an account for every action (or our failure to act) when we stand before the Lord. We should live as if we will be with Him the next minute. We very well might be!!!

Choicest Pearl - Part 1

Choicest Pearl - Part 1

"Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a pearl merchant on the lookout for choice pearls." Matthew 13:45 NLT

The story is told of David Morse an American missionary to India who became great friends there with the pearl-diver, Rambhau. Many an evening he spent in Rambhau's cabin reading to him from the Bible, and explaining to him God's way of salvation.

Rambhau enjoyed listening to the Word of God, but whenever the missionary tried to get Rambhau to accept Christ as his Saviour he would shake his head and reply, "Your Christian way to heaven is too easy for me! I cannot accept it. If ever I should find admittance to heaven in that manner I would feel like a pauper there -- like a beggar who has been let in out of pity. I may be proud but I want to deserve -- I want to earn my place in heaven and so I am going to work for it."

Nothing the missionary could say seemed to have any effect on Rambhau's decision, and so many years slipped by. One evening, however, the missionary heard a knock on his door, and on going to open it he found Rambhau there.

"Come in, dear friend," said Morse.

"No," said the pearl-diver. "I want you to come with me to my house, Sahib, for a short time I have something to show you. Please do not say 'No'".

"Of course I'll come," replied the missionary. As they neared his house, Rambhau said: "In a week's time I start working for my place in heaven; I am leaving for Delhi and I am going there on my knees." "Man, you're crazy! It's nine hundred miles to Delhi, and the skin will break on your knees, and you will have blood-poisoning or leprosy before you get to Bombay."

"No, I must get to Delhi," affirmed Rambhau, "and the immortals will reward me for it! The suffering will be sweet for it will purchase heaven for me!"

"Rambhau, my friend you can't. How can I bear you to do it when Jesus Christ has suffered and died to purchase heaven for you!"

But the old man could not be moved. "You are my dearest friend on earth, Sahib Morse. Through all these years you have stood by me in sickness, in want you have been sometimes my only friend. But even you cannot turn me from my desire to purchase eternal bliss -- I must go to Delhi!" Inside the hut Morse was seated in the very chair Rambhau had specially built for him -- where on so many occasions he had read to him the Bible.

Hummm!

Hummm!

“The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve.” Jeremiah 17:9-10

That title is meant to imply a questioning analysis of the things going on around us. I have to confess that I can be very cynical when I hear unsaved people sit in judgment of anything spiritual.

Here is an example of an inconsistency I notice. I have heard people from many ethnic groups and religious persuasions take the Lord’s name in vain. It blows my mind that they profane the name of Jesus or God. Why do they not profane their own supposed god? I think that they know the truth but refuse to admit it.

Tragedies are a very real part of the human experience. It may be a personal or family tragedy. On a wider scale it may be something that impacts a whole community or even a nation. It is then that people call out to the ONE true God and Jesus Christ His Son.

Perhaps you have read the joke about a church that fasted and prayed for lightning to strike a tavern that was scheduled to open next door to the church. Sure enough the night before the tavern was due to open it was struck by lightning and burned to the ground.

The tavern owner sued the church, claiming that they were responsible for his business being destroyed. The church argued that they were not responsible for the destruction.

In his deliberation the judge said that he was confounded. He was dealing with a tavern owner who believed in the power of prayer and on the other hand a church congregation that didn’t! Ouch!!

How about the subject of Biblical prophecy? It’s ironic that I read in secular publications that the end is near, while many Christians have steered clear of any serious study of the subject.

They glibly quote the verse in Matthew 24:36; “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” These people fail to recognize that in the entire 24th chapter, Jesus describes what things to look for prior to His return.

If you want a wake-up call that will take away the “hummm” from your life, read what Jesus says in Matthew 24:37-39; “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.”

I pray that we will not be lulled into a sense of lethargy at this critical time of world history. Draw near to the Lord yourself and invite others to receive Jesus Christ by personal invitation. Come, Lord Jesus!

Peace in the Storm!

Peace in the Storm!

“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in You. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal.” Isaiah 26:3-4

I had been searching for a picture of a small bird huddled behind a rock, when I found a remarkable painting by Jack E. Dawson. I have just been viewing this intriguing painting which he titled, “Peace in the Midst of the Storm." It not only pictures a bird in a storm -- it has five small quail like birds hidden behind a crashing waterfall in the midst of a thunderstorm. Wow!

It is such a comfort to me to understand that the Lord is always there with us in the midst of any storm we may encounter. Please repeat that statement -- “The Lord is always with me in the midst of the storm!”

The idea of perfect peace is especially appealing when you are in a storm. Back a number of years ago Joyce and I were invited to take a cruise thought the San Juan Islands of Washington State.

A friend of ours was using his cousin’s 30 foot cabin cruiser for the trip. The first day was very smooth, but then came a hazardous crossing of open ocean water. It was soon evident that we were in trouble. Waves on every side tossed us to and fro at will.

It was during that time that we longed for a place of perfect peace. After several hours of battling the waves we could see hope out ahead. San Juan Island was ahead and was blocking the wind. We could see calm water in the distance, but we were still in the storm. It was a tremendous relief when we reached the calm.

In today’s Scripture Isaiah is giving us the remedy for dealing with the storms of life. “You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in You.”

Yes, there will be storms in the forecast for us. Storms are inevitable. But we also have the confident assurance that the Lord will shelter us in the storms.

He will not always use the same methods to protect us, but He will do so. At times He will allow the storms to pass by on each side while we are protected in the palm of His hand.

At other times He will permit us to go through some violent storm. I think He does this to show how true believers should react when our world is turned upside down.

Do you want peace in the midst of your storm? Place your trust in the Lord and do not allow the storm to shake your faith. Praise the Lord that He is greater than any storm we will encounter!

We’re His People

We’re His People

"Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations." (Psalm 100, NIV)

From this Psalm dwell on this one sentence for a moment: "Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture."

Ask yourself: "Do I believe that He is the Lord God?" "Do I believe that it is He who made me?" "Do I believe that I am His?" "Do I believe that I am one of His people?" "Do I believe that I am a sheep of His pasture?"

If your answer to any of those questions is "No," then let me ask you a few questions: Who or what is the Lord of your life? Who or what is your God? Who made you? Who do you belong to? Where do you receive your nourishment?

If your answer to any of those questions is "Yes," then let me ask you one question: If He is the Lord God, if He is the One who made you, if you are His, if you are one of His people, and if you are one of the sheep in His pasture, does your life reflect that belief?

If we truly believe that He is the Lord God, the He made us, that we are His, that we are His people, and that we are the sheep in His pasture, our lives must be different. The rest of the Psalm reflects this belief. The Psalmist says because we "Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture," we shout for joy, we worship the Lord with gladness, we come before Him with joyful song, we enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise, we give thanks to Him, and praise His name, because we know that the Lord is good and His love endures forever, and that His faithfulness continues through all generations. Because we know that we live like we know that.

Does that description fit your life? Is it full of joy and thanksgiving and praise to the One who made us and gives us nourishment from His pasture?

One more question: What if began to live like we believe these words?

Let's try it. This week live like you, "Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. The Lord is good and His love endures forever, and that His faithfulness continues through all generations."

If we are His people, let's live like we are His people.

Knowing you're Safe

Knowing you're Safe

When our older son was little, he would sometimes wander into the living room, crawl into my lap, and snuggle up so close I wasn't sure how he could breathe. One night he looked up at me with those big blue eyes of his and he told me something I've never forgotten. He said, "Daddy, when I'm in your arms, I feel so safe."

No matter how old we get, we're still looking for arms where we can feel totally safe, especially when we think about eternity.

For many years, my wife has wanted to find her grandfather's grave. So recently when my work took me near the area where Bill Harrison was buried, she checked out all the local cemeteries hoping to find that grave. Granddad Harrison had been an alcoholic since he was 12, but on the night he was planning to kill himself, he was attracted into a rescue mission by a song his mother used to sing. And that night he committed himself to Jesus Christ, and he never touched alcohol again. He spent the rest of his life traveling the country telling about the power that had changed him.

My wife never got to meet him; he died before she was born. And no one is alive today who could tell her exactly where he was buried. Sadly, she couldn't find a grave with his name on it. But she finally called and told me a little tearfully, The last grave we looked at had no name on it, but the same words we had inscribed on my mother's grave were on that gravestone, 'In the arms of Jesus.'"

Whatever they put on our tombstone some day, I hope those words will accurately describe where you'll be the moment after you die - safe in Jesus' arms. The Bible lets us know that this hope is more than just a nice epitaph. It says of those who belong to Jesus Christ, that they will be "away from the body and at home with the Lord" (1 Corinthians 5:8). Or, to put it simply, safe forever.

In our word for today from the Word of God, Revelation 21 beginning at verse 3, the Lord gives us a peek at what heaven will be like. It says, "God will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain ... The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it ... there will be no night there." Of course, the most important question for you and me is, "Who will be there in heaven? Who goes to be 'in the arms of Jesus' when they die?"

Well, Revelation 21:27 says, "Nothing impure will ever enter it ... but only those whose names were written in the Lamb's Book of Life." Earlier in the same book, God says, "If anyone's name was not found written in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."

The Bible makes it clear that God gave His only Son for us that "whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). That's who's in that Book of Life. Bill Harrison, my wife's mom, you or me, we end up "in the arms of Jesus" not because God accepts what we have done, but because we accept what God has done when Jesus died on the cross to forgive our sins. Nobody will make it to heaven because of the good they've done. The Bible says, "There is no one righteous, not even one" (Romans 3:10). And no one with sin can enter heaven. That's why Jesus had to die to pay a death penalty we could never pay, to remove the only thing that will keep you out of heaven when you die - your sin.

To end up in the arms of Jesus the moment you die, you have to put yourself in His arms before you die. And that's what He's inviting you to do right now; to walk into His open arms and let Him rescue you from a sin penalty you could never rescue yourself from. If you do that, you can know from this day on what will happen when you die. You will be in heaven with your Savior. Tell Him today, "Jesus, I'm Yours." I hope you'll visit our website, because there's a lot of practical help there in knowing that you have actually given your life to Jesus Christ and how to begin that relationship. It's YoursForLife.net.

There is one safe place, today and forever. It is in the arms of Jesus.

The Thief in the Attic

The Thief in the Attic

In this generation something has happened that has never been so prevalent before. People have taken God's word, left out parts of it and made man's word. They change the Bible to suit their opinions. Then... they teach their children and others this. And the next generation doesn't know any better, because they don't read their Bible, and only remember what they were taught, not what the reality is. So we have people who base God upon their opinions and say:

I am a good person, God loves me.

I don't have any sin.

There is no such thing as satan.

There is no such thing as sin.

God's word is not relevant as it was originally written, times have changed and we must keep up with them.

There was no virgin birth, that is a myth that was made up.

There is no hell.

All there is, is life on this earth.

Jesus was not resurrected, it’s all a hoax, He was just a prophet, a wise man, not God's Son.

People can live however they want, there are NO moral absolutes.

Christians are out of touch with life, they are uptight and hypocritical, holier than thou.

These are very common things. You will hear them in chats, on TV, in commentaries, and among modernistic preachers, who have become liberal to satisfy their congregation, rather than holy before God, they have become man pleasers. Even on the historical channels, they do everything they can to denounce and disprove God's word and the life of His disciples, and the son of God. They twist the words, and take away from them, and deny them, deceiving thousands by their deceitful commentary based on the word of man and not the truth of God. The thief in the attic has come to steal, kill and destroy.

Are you going to let him get away with it? Are you allowing him space in your brain? Rebuke him, flee from him.

Seek God! Another great topic...

Politicians who say abortion is “ok”. They say it is ok to murder your own child if you want to. And somehow Christians condone this belief!

Hello... would someone quote the 10 commandments?

THOU SHALL NOT KILL. How can any Christian condone the deliberate murder of an unborn child? Do they not know that child has a soul of its own, and is loved by God? If you vote for a politician that believes in this you are condoning that sin, winking at it… saying its ok… don't be so uptight about things… a woman has a right to choose what to do with her own body. Perhaps she does, but she has NO RIGHT to kill the body of the baby. That baby has separate human rights, a separate soul and does not deserve death in the name of birth control or women's rights. How can any Christian vote for anyone who denies their Christianity by accepting any old thing, just to please men?

Take a look at some of the churches you saw recently on TV, they spend a lot of time with racist comments aimed at anyone who disagrees with them. Is this what church is for? Church is for the gospel of Christ. It is not to separate by race, it is to draw people to Christ, and teach people how to find Jesus as their Savior. Not demean others in the name of men's corrupt opinions. Church is not about teaching people anger and hatred. Should Christians compromise and say all religions are good?

Who is the Savior? Is every man’s theology greater than the truth of God's word? God says you are either for me or against me. You either walk holy and righteous before me, or you walk in the path of sin, and that is spiritual death. THERE IS NO MIDDLE GROUND. There are moral absolutes, and we ALL will account to God someday, by what is written in his word. The Bible said it would be like this: Furthermore since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil. They disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, and ruthless. Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but approve of those who practice them.

Romans 1: 28-31 My friend, before you vote, pray. Godly men do not vote for ungodly concepts. Before you commit yourself to a church, pray. God fearing men do not seek churches that tickle the ears rather than preach the truth and the gospel of Christ. They seek to please God, and to live by what HE said, not what men say he said, by adding or taking away from his Holy Word. For your own soul listen!!! Do not align yourself with corrupt politicians, corrupt people, or modernistic, watered down corrupt churches. Corruptness will rub off on you, it will change you little by little till you accept that which is not of God, and do it to be liked, and fit in with the crowd you have accepted in your life. A slippery slope indeed. My friends, if it is not of God, run the other way. Never compromise your beliefs to be popular. Only God's opinion matters. Don't let people take away from the Bible and tell you it's ok. Stand for what is right. Don't let people tell you killing babies is ok, or that people have a right to live whatever way they choose. Oh my friend, we have some higher court of law than the one of this land. And all mankind will be judged by this court.

Are you ready? Is your soul right with God? Have you allowed evil and compromise to enter your life? If you would like to start over, and have a fresh new walk in Christ, that is possible this very moment.

Please pray with me.

Father God, I come to You in Jesus name. I ask You to cleanse me of my sins, and forgive my unrighteousness. I realize I have walked away from the truth, and accepted things I never should have, and they have caused me a lot of problems, and taken me down paths that I don't like anymore, they have caused me a lot of pain and sorrow. I now confess my sins to You individually, all those that I remember. Father forgive my sins, and cleanse me, make me whole and new in you. Not because I deserve it, but because You loved me and gave the life of Your Son as a atonement for my sins. God, with Your help I will change my life daily, by reading Your word, getting in a good Gospel teaching church and seeking that which is good and pleasing to You. Thank You for loving me even when I am so imperfect and fickle. Daily strengthen me, and help me to please You in all I say and do. When I stray remind me that people are watching, and I may be the only Bible they read. Help me to remember I am accountable for every word and deed. Make me a light, and fill me with Your light. I give my heart, soul and mind to You. And from this day forward I will walk away from my sins, and my past and seek this new life in You, that You promised all who confess their sins. We are no longer our own, we are bought with a price, the blood of Jesus. In Jesus name, amen.

"I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” Galatians 2:20

The Mouse!

The Mouse!

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” I Corinthians 13:4-7

Confession is always good for the soul. Joyce and I were enjoying a cup of coffee this morning when we happened to think of the episode of -- “THE MOUSE!” Not just any mouse, mind you, but “THE MOUSE!”

In a way it was one of my finest hours -- but in reality is was pure and simple deception. I have already confessed it to the Lord and to Joyce, so do not hammer me about dealing with the issue.

It all happened one evening in Vancouver, Washington. In the middle of the night, Joyce was awake, feeding our baby son. She happened to see a small mouse out for a leisurely stroll. Now to me this seemed to be normal and proper behavior for a mouse. To Joyce it was a national crisis. With a scream she fled into our bedroom and issued this ultimatum: “You will be getting up with the kids in the middle of the night until that mouse is gone!” That got my immediate attention!

Traps were set at every logical location. After a week the traps were still empty and I was on permanent night duty. It was then I came up with a remarkable plan. The next evening I walked into the kitchen and got down on my knees to look under the refrigerator. I pulled out the empty trap and called in a happy voice, “Honey do you want to see it?”

Joyce squealed and said, “Just get it out of here!” I walked outside and made noise as if I had thrown it in the garbage can. Remember, it was all just a farce, there was no mouse. I did not say there was, but I had lied by intimation.

Do you have any mice in your life? Are there things that you say and do in order to lead people to believe something that is not true? Let me be a little more specific -- do you lead people to believe you are a dedicated Christian when, in fact, you are living a sham?

Integrity is a quality that is becoming increasingly rare, in our families, our communities, our nation -- but sadly even in our churches. That is a tragedy. Above all else, we need to be authentic.

I am not setting a mouse trap here. I challenge each of us to examine our hearts to see if there are things hidden there that have been disguised as something else. This may be a painful exercise, but it will free us of a heavy burden of guilt. That is real love!

His Consuming Fire

His Consuming Fire

Ice will turn to water at a temperature just above zero degrees centigrade. We might consider the water to be consumed as it turns to steam at one hundred degrees centigrade. Wood must be heated to a much higher temperature before it's consumed and metal must be heated even more. I wonder how much heat is required to finally consume the works of my flesh and burn away my selfishness and pride.

Hebrews 12:28-29
"Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire."

When we begin to understand the Kingdom we've inherited through Christ, we dare not enter His sanctuary with anything but pure praise and worship. Whatever else we attempt to bring is born in our flesh with a spirit of pride. If we say, "Look at what I've brought You, my Lord!" He will simply burn it to ash. We might protest, "But God, look at all I've done for You!" and the heat will be turned up until all we hold is consumed.

Is our greatest ambition to impact the world for Christ? Is our motivation to be significant in the eyes of God or become a major player in the advancement of His Kingdom? Beware! Though these sound good and have the appearance of being pleasing to God, they are conceived in pride and will be consumed.

We truly can bring Him NOTHING of worth except a pure heart; "All our righteous acts are like filthy rags" (Isaiah 64:6). Our greatest desire (our ONLY desire) must be to praise and worship the King through all we think, say, and do. All our striving to be obedient and produce good works - all of our "Godly" motivation and ambition - must flow simply as a direct outpouring of our worship.

If we are still trying to conquer something for Christ, we have not yet fully submitted to His leading nor found complete rest in His strength. Jesus came with all knowledge and power, and yet He walked with absolute surrender and submission; "the world must learn that I love the Father and that I do exactly what My Father has commanded Me" (John 14:31).

This is a daily challenge, one of the more subtle battles between the Spirit and the flesh. While we must strive, we must also remember that God does not need anything we produce. True fruit which pleases our Heavenly Father comes only as we "remain in the vine" (John 15:4), and love Him with all our heart.

The same fire that will one day burn all our righteous acts can be used today to cleanse our heart. Let's come into His presence and worship with pure reverence and awe. Let's allow every selfish desire and every fiber of pride to be burned away in His consuming fire.

Who God Uses?

Who God Uses?

If you say, "Hey, that's none of my business…" will that get you off the hook? Someone is watching you closely, you know -- someone not impressed with weak excuses." Proverbs 24:12 MSG

Webster's dictionary defines the word excuse as:
To make allowance for; overlook:

Many times people will have a perceived good excuse why they can not do the will of God in their life. Here is a list of excuses key people in the Bible could have used:

Jacob was a liar:
Noah was drunk:

Elijah was suicidal:
Gideon was afraid:

David had an affair:
Joseph was abused:

Naomi was a widow:
Abraham was too old:

Paul was too religious:
Isaiah preached naked:

Rahab was a prostitute:
John was self-righteous:

Zacchaeus was too small:
Jonah ran away from God:

Matthew was a tax collector:
Samson had long uncut hair:

Timothy had a stomach ulcer:
Martha worried about everything:

Job went bankrupt and lost everything:
Jeremiah and Timothy were too young:

Moses, David and Paul were murderers:
All the disciples fell asleep while praying:

Mary Magdalene was demon-possessed:
Peter was destructive, impulsive and hot-tempered:

Mary was so Jesus minded she was no earthly good:
The Samaritan woman was divorced - more than once:

John the Baptist ate locusts and wandered in the desert:
The boy with the fish and five rolls of bread is still unknown:

So what is my excuse for not repenting and doing the will of God in my life?

Prayer: Father remove every excuse that I have for not doing Your will in my life. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen!

A Chain Reaction of Salvations

A Chain Reaction of Salvations

Acts 11:14 “He will bring you a message through which you and all your household will be saved.”

Anyone who has accepted Jesus as Savior by faith is on their way to Heaven. What a glorious truth that is! What a wonderful peace that truth brings. Many people wrongfully think that you can't know if you are going to Heaven. That couldn't be further from the truth. That it is the point of the gospel meaning 'good news.' God didn't have Jesus die for you to keep you in a state of confusion or wonderment. He wanted you to know that Heaven would be your home. We see this truth in 1 John 5:13. "These things I have written to you who believe in Jesus, that you may know (not hope or wonder but know) that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.”

Knowing this is the beginning of a new life in Jesus. Once you have become one of God's children, He rejoices. He loves us and will always take care of us. At the same time, He never loses sight of or concern for the lost. All mankind is a part of His creation. Satan has attempted to lie, pervert and draw all he can into his misery and destiny. God wants everyone saved.

We are all surrounded by people that don't know the Lord and are spiritually perishing. Some are family members or relatives and some are friends from work or acquaintances we've made such as neighbors or those we do business with. It's great to come to the place where you know you have eternal life but as God continues to care for the lost, so does he want you to. If you know Him then you love Him and care what He cares about. 2 Cor. 5:15 says,” And Jesus died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Jesus who died for them and was raised again."

He desires to use us to be messengers of His love, His touch, and life-changing truth. 2 Cor. 5:20 reveals our new job description in the earth saying, "We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us..." When you become a Christian, you immediately gain purpose for your life. God makes you an ambassador for Him. He wants you to pray for the lost. He also wants you to touch others with the same life changing good news that He touched your life with. When we do, Heaven moves in our behalf. That is really the truth. You just can't always see it happening.

In Acts chapter ten, we read a fantastic story helping us see answers to prayer manifest from the realm of the spirit - into the lives of a family. It's the story of a man named Cornelius. He was a man that believed in God but did not know Jesus as His Savior. He loved God and really wanted to know the Lord. He was a good man that did many good things for God's people yet He himself had not entered into a personal relationship with Jesus.

One day as he was praying and seeking God, an angel visited him and told him to send for the Apostle Peter. He did what he was told. At the same time, God was speaking to Peter and telling him that someone was coming to take him to the house of Cornelius. Peter went to his home and Cornelius and all of his household were saved. As we see in today's Fresh Manna verse, God promise Cornelius one who would "bring you a message through which you and all your household will be saved." God cares for everyone this much.

This story reveals how powerfully God works in the background through prayers of faith. There are people everywhere seeking to know God and His truth. They, in their own words at some point in their life, lift their voice to God saying something like, "God if you are real will you help me to know you?" God listens to that prayer and moves on the hearts of everyday Christians like you and I just as He did Peter.

If you are willing, you will be used by God to be an answer to someone’s prayer. You will be a laborer. I always pray for laborers to cross the path of all my family. I likewise want to be a laborer for someone else’s. We may be used to plant a seed of God's love in their life or we may be used to usher them in a prayer of salvation to accept Christ. Either is wonderful but it starts with being willing and being sensitive to the real purpose God has for our lives.

I'll never forget the time I was sitting in a seat on an airplane reading my Bible. The flight attendant I was working with asked me if I liked reading the Bible. I told her, "If you knew how much the Bible transformed my life, you'd read it to.” She wanted to know more. We ended up praying a prayer of salvation together. She asked Jesus into her heart. The next day she told me that she had called her husband. That same night, a man had engaged in conversation with her husband and had led him in a prayer of salvation. God was moving powerfully in both their lives! Want to hear the real kicker? The guy sharing Jesus with her husband was a friend of mine!

We never know how God is going to use us. But, we’ll definitely have more encounters if a) we are willing and paying attention, and b) if we will pray asking God to use us to be a light. I don’t put myself under the pressure of having to pray a prayer of salvation with each person I end up sharing Jesus with. I just pray that God’s love moves through me in such a way that I touch their life with His love and His power if they express a need I can pray about. Remember, you may be the one whom God uses that triggers a chain reaction of salvations -- much to His pleasing.

Can God use me?

Can God use me?

“Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage -- with great patience and careful instruction.” II Timothy 4:2

The answer to the title -- is a resounding YES! Not only can He use you, He wants to use you. The only thing standing in the way is -- are you ready? YOU!

As I allow my mind to wander across the years, I am struck by those who have been able to minister under dire circumstances. A missionary I knew was rushed to a hospital with a ruptured appendix. While recuperating in a two-bed room, he was able to share his testimony with the patient in the other bed and lead him to the Lord.

During the cold war years there were many Christians who were imprisoned due to their belief in Jesus Christ. Rather than collapsing in a heap and feeling sorry for themselves, many used prison as an opportunity to preach the gospel.

In our own life we have endured occasional tests and trials. As we surrendered our situation to the Lord, He opened doors of ministry that we could never have entered in any other way.

It is not necessary for us to be perfect before He can use us -- just forgiven. It is not necessary for us to complete a course of study to be used -- just available. It is not necessary for us to be of a certain age to be used -- just willing.

Many of you are enduring trials and tests right now. Please do not allow what you are experiencing to paralyze you from being used. Step forward and volunteer to serve in God’s army. Neither age nor physical limitations will disqualify. “God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called.”

51 Promises to Receive Your Divine Healing

51 Promises to Receive Your Divine Healing

I have been compiling healing scriptures for many years. I know that there are more. To begin your search for the truth about God’s healing power, start with this scripture from Romans 10:17. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. You need to find out everything you can about healing, including how to fight the spiritual battle for you healing… Maybe you aren’t sick or even prone to sickness, but you will at the very least be ministering to someone who is sick or prone to sickness. You should be prepared to defeat this demon. You should go at this battle for healing as if it is a life and death situation, because it is! Maybe not yours today but it is for someone. Let your authority really count. The more promises you know, the greater your faith for healing will become. These scriptures will help you to fight for everything that has been promised to you.

I am the God that health thee!
I realize that this is a long footprint, but you need every promise. I have been healed many times. I had a stroke four years ago. Given a prognosis of living only forty five minutes, I was told that if by some miracle I did live, that I would be a vegetable. God healed me! I am still in ministry today. I was healed of crippling arthritis, fibromyalgia, Lupus and costrocongitis. My husband was healed of cancer and blood clots. He was at death’s door for a long time, but then God! We have learned a lot about the healing power of Jesus and how to fight that battle for healing. (You can see our complete testimonies at our websites.)

Maybe these healing promises will help begin your search…

1. Exodus 15:26 (KJV)
26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

2. Exodus 23:25-26 (NKJV)
25 So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.

3. Deuteronomy 7:14-15 (KJV)
14 Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.
15 And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.

4. Deuteronomy 30:19-20 (KJV)
19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

5. 1 Kings 8:56 (NKJV)

6. Psalms 91:9-10 (NKJV)
9 Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10 No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;

14 "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known my name.
15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation."

8. Psalms 103:1-5 (KJV)
1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with loving kindness and tender mercies;
5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

9. Psalms 107:17 (NKJV)
17 Fools, because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, were afflicted.

10. Psalms 107:19-20 (NKJV)

13. Isaiah 41:10 (KJV)

10 ...Let the weak say, 'I am strong.'

19. Nahum 1:9 (NKJV)

20. Matthew 8:2-3 (NKJV)
2 And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean."
3 Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

21. Matthew 8:16-17 (NKJV)
16 When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick,
17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: "He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses."

22. Matthew 15:30-31 (NKJV)
30 Then great multitudes came to Him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at Jesus' feet, and He healed them.
31 So the multitude marveled when they saw the mute speaking, the maimed made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.

23. Matthew 18:18-19 (NKJV)
18 Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
19 Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.

24. Matthew 21:21-22 (NKJV)
21 So Jesus answered and said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' it will be done.
22 And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."

25. Mark 11:22-24 (KJV)
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, have faith in God. (Literal translation says faith of God)
23 For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

26. Mark 16:17-18 (KJV)
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

27. Luke 6:19 (NKJV)
19 And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed them all.

28. Luke 9:2 (NKJV)
2 He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

29. Luke 13:16 (NKJV)
16 So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound -- think of it -- for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?"

30. Acts 5:16 (NKJV)
16 Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.

31. Acts 10:38 (NKJV)
38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

32. Romans 4:16-21 (KJV)
16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, so shall thy seed be.
19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb:
20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

33. Romans 8:2 (NKJV)
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

34. Romans 8:11 (KJV)
11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

35. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (KJV)
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

36. Galatians 3:13-14 (NKJV)
13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"),
14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

37. Galatians 3:29 (NKJV)
29 And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

38. Ephesians 6:10-17 (NKJV)
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

39. Philippians 2:13 (NKJV)
13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

40. Philippians 4:6-9 (NKJV)
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy -- meditate on these things.
9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

41. 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

42. Hebrews 10:23 (NKJV)
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

43. Hebrews 10:35-36 (NKJV)
35 Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.
36 For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:

44. Hebrews 11:11 (NKJV)
11 By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised.

45. Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV)
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

46. James 4:7 (NKJV)
7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

47. James 5:14-15 (KJV)
14 Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

48. 1 John 5:14-15 (NKJV)
14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

49. 3 John 1:2 (KJV)
2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

50. Revelation 12:11 (NKJV)
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

51. James 3:2-7 (KJV)
2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
3 Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:

According to an article by Rutgers University says… people who rate their own health to be “poor” are five times more likely to die than those who rate their health as “excellent.” They were all in comparable health. Proverbs 23:7 …as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.

One last scripture: (Matthew 9:29) …According to your faith be it unto you.

Take these scriptures, copy them, and study them daily. Read them many times a day. Feed on them. Put them into your mind until they get down into your heart… until they are Rhema to you. They will become bigger than any report the Doctor could give. Greater is He that is in you than He that is in this world! (1 John 4:4)

In Him,

Impossible!

Impossible!

With God, all things are possible. Or are they?

Hebrews 6:4-6 says, "It is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of [experienced] the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have experienced the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, if they fall away, to renew them again unto repentance..."

Impossible? Didn't Jesus say all things are possible with God (Matthew 19:26)? Indeed, he did, but let's examine this impossibility.

You live in an unusual community. Nobody eats at home; they have their meals at one of the two restaurants in town.

All your life you've eaten at Joe's Greasy Spoon. You sometimes wonder why, since the doors and windows are grimy with cooking grease and dust and cigarette smoke. Inside, the stink of marijuana combines with the din called music, while flashing lights bounce off a rotating disco ball. The patrons swill pints of ale, while the mini-skirted, buxom waitresses aren't shy about showing off their buxomness. The kitchen help is unkempt, and their aprons are smeared with ketchup and mustard and whatever else gets slopped on them.

Like your fellow rowdies, you tumble out of bed, then head to Joe's for breakfast, hoping some food will ease your throbbing head. The atmosphere holds you, and breakfast becomes lunch, and lunch morphs into supper, and finally, in the darkness of night you stagger your way home, knowing you'll repeat the process the next day.

Each morning, as you approach the diner, you see a well-dressed man standing nearby. He nods in greeting, and a slight smile brightens his otherwise sad face. Strange! He's still there when you leave late at night.

One night he speaks. "You know," he says, "you're better than this, and there's a better life for you. Come home with me. You can have a long shower, and have a good night's sleep between clean sheets. When you're ready we'll have breakfast at The Golden Roads restaurant."

In the morning, surprise! Your head is clear, your clothes have been laundered and pressed, and your new-found friend has a happy face and sunny smile. Soon you're at The Golden Roads. What a difference from Joe's Greasy Spoon. The windows sparkle, and you're amazed there are no doors. The way is always open to anyone who comes.

Inside the air is fresh, and music lands gently on your ears. There's light everywhere, but it doesn't flash and glare like the strobes at Joes.

The patrons are chatting and laughing, and enjoying breakfast served by neatly dressed waitresses who pick up their orders from an immaculate kitchen, where nary a spot nor stain mars the cleanliness of the cooks' aprons.

At first you have a sense of uneasiness. Everything is so different here. You wonder if you're worthy enough to enter such a sanctuary. But, as you survey the scene, you spot a couple fellows you knew from Joe's. "What are those cruds doing here," you wonder. Your escort, as though reading your thoughts, tells you every one of these people were as unworthy as you, but changed their lives around with the help of those who have been here before them.

You enter cautiously, and are quickly shown to a table. Your breakfast mates help ease your mind, and soon you realize this is where you belong. You don't even want to go home, and that's okay since The Golden Roads is open 24-7, and the price is right (Isaiah 55:1).

One morning, however, the attraction of dingy Joe's plays on your mind and, after a difficult struggle, you go there for an all-day breakfast. You know it's wrong, but soon you join in the merriment -- if it can be called that -- and return for a couple days to your old life. When you leave, your friend is waiting, and takes you to his home to clean you up again. Your face burns with embarrassment as you return to The Golden Roads, but you're cheerfully welcomed back without even a whisper of criticism.

A few months later you go through the same struggle, and end up at Joe's, and despite the wonderful atmosphere at The Golden Roads, you find yourself returning to Joe's more frequently, Eventually, your mind convinces you this is where you really want to be. All your drinking buddies, and the staff, help persuade you you're right. Finally your mind becomes so fixed on being at Joe's, that you can't even think of returning to The Golden Roads.

Has God shut you out of his restaurant? How could he? There's no doors. But your conscience has become so seared by satan (1 Timothy 4:1-2) that you have barred your own entry. You have joined those who have fallen away, and who now find it impossible to return to the good life at The Golden Roads.
